Leeds Civic Arts Guild-Mr Fred Mower

Mr Fred Mower, Resident Stage Manager of the Leeds Civic Theatre.

Fred was an accomplished scenic artist, and many of the Guild societies were dependant upon Fred to design and produce their scenery. There are still large sets that Fred produced in storage (for societies such as Leeds Gilbert & Sullivan), and they are occasionally hired out to other groups.Fred added the responsibilities of Theatre Manager to his job as Stage Manager (of the Civic Theatre) in July 1974, a dual role continued until his retirement in March 1980.
